WHY DOES REEFER COMPRESSOR TAKE SUCTION FROM CRANKCASE?

IF WE OBSERVE RECIPROCATING AIR COMPRESSOR, IT IS COMMON TO SEE THE SUCTION TAKING  PLACE DIRECTLY INTO THE CYLINDER.

UNLIKE AIR COMPRESSOR , MOST OF THE REEFER COMPRESSOR TAKE SUCTION DIRECTLY INTO CRANKCASE BECAUSE IT SHOWS ADVANTAGEOUS WHILE HANDLING REFERIGERANT GAS WHICH CANT BE AFFORDED TO BE LOST

REASON FOR TAKING SUCTION FROM CRANKCASE

  • SINCE AIR IS ONE OF THE CONTAMINANTS IN THE REFER SYSTEM, PRESSURISING THE CRANKCASE AVOIDS INGRESS OF AIR INTO THE SYSTEM
  • NO REFRIGERANT GAS IS WASTEDBY EVEN SMALL BLOWPAST FROM COMPRESSOR PISTON.
ALSO THE REFRIGERANT GAS IS MISCIBLE WITH OIL THUS THIS HELPS THE OIL TO RETURN TO THE COMPRESSOR AND THUS DOESNOT CIRCULATE WITH THE REFRIGERANT.
